FEBRUARY UPDATE!
Holy flip this thing is really coming together! Buckle up! FWP 7 ought to feature two hefty interviews ...Gregg Turner! Storyteller, Meltzer collaborator and solo/groop artist of note, you know him, and Pat D. Hearse of Pittsburgh's THE PUKE, whose work has been collected beautifully by GET HIP records. Both interviews were swell as all hell!
Also in this one- book reviews of bio and autobio "In The Brewing Luminous" and "The Wanderer Talks Truth" ...Cecil Taylor and Dion... plus Lisa Carver's latest collection of exhibitions and her more Gulcheral work, "Lover of Leaving" and "I Love Art" respectively.
Yeah, there are various music, film and anime reviews also that are more reflexive exercises than anything, and even one restaurant I had the pleasure to scarf at. Plus old-time style thrills/situation comedy from radioechoes, Suspense, The Whistler and Fibber McGee and Molly!
Big news is that #7 should be out by end of February, and ready to be _gleaned at_ around rockin' events from coast to coast that I plan to air-mail my rags too, or appear at myself...
OH, AND ANOTHER THING: FWP 5 and 6 have gotten the reprint treatment. Too costly to do the other ones anymore, but they can ALL be seen and even downloaded/printed from archive.org, if you just GOTTA have the early issues. Consider it more sharity from The Richard Meltzer Fanclub. But if you want things like Flexis or Gulcher button pins, order number 5 & 6 from me direct. Asking price 10 dolla for 5, 15 dolla for 6, sorry but it is a big one and includes music that plays pretty for baby by Mordecai, and a bonus booklet all about Una Mae Carlisle.
Just at the tail end of Black History Month, we also have white guys talking racism in 20th Century baseball: e-pal Lawrence on Jim Bouton's Ball Four... plus Michael Burke and Yankee Stadium- remembered in what I consider a Joycean fashion! -by Sabermetric and Meltzer authority REPOZ. Also! the JOY of the game, via the 21st Century Dayton Dragons.
Anything else? YEAH! I do a non-radio show called Mr. Flap Jaw that I have completed 4 episodes of. It was supposed to be monthly, but #4 was an INTENSIVE 3-parter, 3 hours of German New Wave, punk industrial and even ska, power pop... that I'm real proud of. Hear it on archive.org:

Okay I think that does it for now,

Mid-January Update 1/13/25
About halfway done with Issue 7. Usually when I reach this point things start accelerating pretty quickly, so I'll most likely finish within the month. It's the bonus stuff I'm trying to figure out- making an informative pamphlet and posting some music on a database somewhere w/ easy access.
Finished a couple books during the snow-in... one by Dion (you know, DION!) and another about Cecil Taylor, "In The Brewing Luminous" ... still unpacking a lot and have enough listening for I don't know, half a lifetime.
A film comes out today EDIT: delayed on Amazon... about Jim Morrison entitled "Before The End" and it should be entertaining as all heck- check out @stomachchurn on Letterboxd for my reaction and Meltzer bits.
Till later! w
For Those Paying Attention... 12/18/24
After speaking with a number of slightly miffed customers, I've decided another flexi-disc is NOT the way to go. Basically, these things just won't fit on- or play -on certain turntables, and that to me is just not an acceptable extra for FWP going forward.
I AM happy to have done it, but moving on I think the next release will either be a CD or a tape... of course, if anyone has bags of $$$ just sitting, and you've always wanted to partially produce 7" singles or full albums, maybe we can work something out. Think DANGERHOUSE, cuz that's where my head is. Except it's called FAUX WOOD PANELING.

THE LATEST LATEST UPDATE 10/29/24
WE ARE SO BACK! Archive.org, that is. The next FWP is also slowly coming together and I'm aiming for Richard Berry's b-day for release- so get hyped. Another issue, another flexi and a whole new insert that is TBD.
Kisses! -W
THE LATEST UPDATE 10/16/24
Archive.org has been down for a spell. This is saddening cuz The Richard Meltzer Bibliography is up there, along with Hepcats From Hell episodes, interviews, and my own direct-to-harddrive radio program Mr. Flap Jaw. Boo!
--
I'm packin' up and moving back to Xenia. I expect I'll have a lot more time to focus on the radio biz and the zine itself, all supplements of The Richard Meltzer Fanclub.
"We're the Devil, man..."
